Delegate Kannan Srinivasan Wins Senate District 32 Special Election

Ashburn, VA – Today, Senator-Elect Kannan Srinivasan issued the following statement on tonight’s victory: 

“This win is a victory for Loudoun, its families, and every Virginian across our Commonwealth. Tonight, we have shown that when we stand together and fight for the issues we care about, we win. From an immigrant to a Delegate, and now Senator-elect, I am deeply humbled by the opportunity to continue representing our community and its values. I will always advocate for a woman's right to control her own body, continue to fund education so our children can get the high-quality and affordable education they deserve, will not back down from critical issues like gun violence prevention, and will work tirelessly to lower costs for everyday Loudoun families. 

I am deeply honored by all of the support and enthusiasm in this race. Thank you to my incredible team and the extraordinary efforts of our volunteers that drove this campaign. Their passion and hard work over the last two months were instrumental in our victory. 

However, our work is unfinished. Tomorrow, the 2025 Legislative Session begins and I look forward to carrying forward the promises of this campaign to Richmond and am committed to finding common-sense, bipartisan solutions. Senator-Elect Kannan Srinivasan, a 25 year Loudoun resident and the first Indian American immigrant to serve in the House of Delegates, represented House District 26. As Delegate, Kannan fought for working families, women’s reproductive rights, healthcare affordability, and gun violence prevention. He ran for Virginia’s 32nd Senate District to ensure Democrats retain their single-seat majority and act as a brick wall against the resurgence of MAGA-era extremism.
